Miu Miu is in a moment of soothing pacification and joy where creativity can play in the energetic search for new relationships. Indeed, Miu Miu it is a brand that has always shown a willingness to collaborate with other realities for the purpose of a collective creative vision always inclined towards a reading of the future. This is how the encounter between Miu Miu’s charismatic attitude and Church’s heritage gave rise to the new selection of moccasins in the Spring Summer 2024 Collection. Following the great success of Church’s X Miu Miu debut, Miuccia Prada decides to present the same collaboration in a new style, proving that she knows how to sculpt the values of the Miu Miu girl even more. While polo shirts, blazers, Oxford shirts perfectly wearable together with overflowing bags make their way down the catwalk, photographer Mauro Maglione tries to render the intimate gestures of the models backstage: all intent on clutching their new coloured sandals and lacing up their Double Monk Strap, they repeat the gesture of crouching. Adding an old-school element, besides the drop waist dresses in gold sequin embroidery and ivory nightgowns, are the shoes: alongside the badly untied and closed Church’s – new footwear proposals, from boat shoes to new New Balance trainers. A moulded rubber sole, flexible, non-slip and sporty, replaces the leather. Infusing the formality of a historic and sustained brand with a libertine and carefree spirit like that of Miu Miu was not so easy. Instead, this dualism between innovation and tradition expresses contemporary, feminine and unconventional products.
Rigid paradigms are replaced by a radical expansion, a complex plurality. Not beauty, but beauties, an embracing of unique characters, the joy of life.
The iconic Church’s moccasin is enriched with new refined declinations: from fringed denim in blue and cognac marbled colours to white vintage-effect nappa leather. Each version reinvents the much-loved model of the 1980s in a contemporary key, conveying Miu Miu’s lively and dynamic femininity. The two logos stand out on the tongue with an eye-catching contrast, signing a distinctive, unique and original style. Thus, elements of deconstruction and reconstruction reinvent some wardrobe archetypes and give life to a surprising result. For the second edition of Church’s X Miu Miu, a new interpretation of the classic Church’s “Shangai” style is presented. Made of brown leather and beige fabric, they feature a small monk strap buckle with a distinctive look. The classic tobacco-coloured shoe is characterised by handcrafted finishes that make it sophisticated yet versatile. These shots become a documentary of a story about familiarity brought forth by Miuccia Prada to carry out a reflection on fashion reacting to modern life and contemporary feeling by always bringing other elements, people, objects and stories into her designs.
