Aesthetics and Meaning

Text by Francesca Fontanesi

The creative spark of the capsule between Oratio and Piero Piazzi arises from the most deeply rooted principles of Made in Italy. Imagined with maniacal quality and craftsmanship, it was presented at Via Santo Spirito 22 in Milan to celebrate the subtle art of dressing.

Those who choose to dress Oratio become part of an inner circle that expresses the desire to narrate their essence through the art of dressing. This ambition is the matrix that has driven Oratio to conceive and create a capsule collection in collaboration with Piero Piazzi: throughout his career, Piazzi has discovered and launched some of the most important top models such as Mariacarla Boscono, Monica Bellucci, Carla Bruni, and Lea T, and has also worked with Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Irina Shayk, Eva Herzigova, and Stella Tennant.

I chose the fabrics one by one with the intention of bringing color, sophistication, something refined into making the garments.

The identity of the male brand is preserved in the search for the ideal balance between aesthetics and meaning: hence the creative spark of a special capsule arises, Piero Piazzi for Oratio. The collection, conceived with maniacal quality and inspired by the most deeply rooted principles of Made in Italy craftsmanship, is a sought-after summer wardrobe, inspired by the charm and slowness of summer in Maremma, Tuscany. Comprising it, a harmony of refined and unique proposals, ranging from brown to burgundy, passing through the classic colors of blue and green. The shirt, available in three different silk patterns, with exclusive micro-prints geometric or floral, and the day pajama set in pure silk consisting of a shirt and trousers. In pure linen, instead, the Bermuda shorts and trousers, both with contrasting piping. As an accessory, a luxurious cognac-colored suede bag. Piero Piazzi collaborated in the creation of the capsule collection free of charge, foregoing receiving his compensation in exchange for Oratio’s commitment to donate the corresponding amount to To.Get.There, an ETS, of which Piero Piazzi, together with President Massimo Leonardelli, is co-founder and sole ambassador, which provides food resources, financial support, educational support, and medical assistance to children affected by AIDS and their families in Uganda, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic. The symbiosis between Oratio and Piero Piazzi transcends the purely creative dimension to become a source of social change.

“When Oratio asked me to design a small summer capsule that represented my way of dressing, I started from the word person – not man or woman – and from the concept of imagination, courage, and freedom”.

– Piero Piazzi
