Zoë CONFIDENTIAL

Zoë is the new book dedicated to Zoë Kravitz through the lens of Henrik Purienne, a collaboration with Anthony Vaccarello as a tribute to his muse.

After the release of the first two publications dedicated to Purienne’s campaigns for Saint Laurent, the new book curated by SL Editions is now dedicated to Zoë Kravitz. An actress, singer, and director who has inspired Anthony Vaccarello’s vision for the brand for many years, the volume pays tribute to her through a series set between Paris and Los Angeles, while Purienne’s identity as a photographer and his poetic and sensual use of the camera attest to her role as a model and muse.

Internationally renowned photographer and director, Henrik Purienne, born in South Africa, became known for a type of photography that is distinctly feminine and for the vintage aesthetic immersed in soft hedonistic atmospheres. The new book for the Editions series by Saint Laurent reflects through Purienne’s shots the long-standing relationship between the actress and the creative director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, bringing to the fore the confident and contemporary sensuality that is the essence of the Saint Laurent woman. Over more than 100 pages, Purienne’s color and black-and-white shots perfectly capture all facets of the actress’s character: independent, playful, and aware of her allure, in a variety of situations ranging from the beach to the city. A supporting cast of actors including Jeremy Allen White adds intrigue to the story, both abstract and revealing. The book will be available on the maison’s official website and in the Saint Laurent Babylone boutiques – a cultural haven in the heart of Paris, the legacy of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in the Sèvres-Babylone district, transformed into an immersive and silent experience dedicated to the memory of the French duo – and at Saint Laurent Rive Droite in Los Angeles. Both locations will feature the images from the book with two special exhibitions and a selection of numbered works available for purchase on request. The first exhibition, at Saint Laurent Rive Droite in Los Angeles, will be held from July 2 to August 20, 2024, while the second will take place at Saint Laurent Babylone in September 2024.

“Sometimes the book just picks the photos for you. There’s something about that that I like: it’s a little unexpected; but once it’s in a book, somehow, you believe it—you rely on the information as true”.

– Henrik Purienne
