2026.01.23 WATCHES

By Davide Di Santo

An exclusive immersion into the heart of Milan, where haute horlogerie meets artisanal savoir-faire and creative audacity during the 7th edition of the French Group’s private showcase – LVMH Watch Week. Held from January 19th to 21st, the event returns to Europe after traveling through major international capitals, from Dubai to Geneva, Singapore to Miami, and on to New York and Paris.

The Montenapoleone address in Milan was transformed, for a day, into the fine line between historical heritage and futuristic vision. On the occasion of LVMH Watch Week 2026, the Louis Vuitton boutique opened its doors to journalists, clients, and retailers summoned as if to a premiere, for a sensory journey that celebrates not only mechanical precision but the poetry of travel. Welcoming us was an impeccable staff, custodians of stories that go far beyond the simple ticking of a movement.

The experience began with a whimsical nod to the Maison’s roots: the Camionnette. Far from a standard clock, this horological masterpiece is a miniature reimagining of Louis Vuitton’s legendary delivery truck from the early 20th century. Clad in saffron and sibylline blue aluminum, it houses a movement by L’Epée 1839 with an 8-day power reserve, turning a symbol of logistics into a high-design objet d’art, as illustrated by Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton: “We wanted to honor the original look of this legendary vehicle, which tells the story of the House’s earliest days. This piece sparks the imagination, taking us back to the boundless world of childhood fantasy.

Moving to the wrist, the Tambour Convergence Guilloché in rose gold captured the light with hypnotic depth. Its dial serves as a canvas for the ancient art of hand-turned guillochage, reflecting the unified aesthetic language of the various Geneva ateliers within La Fabrique du Temps.

“This beginning-of-the-year appointment serves to provide the right momentum, unveiling novelties and exceptional timepieces in the name of a shared creative passion, despite the distinct identities of each Maison.”

-Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of the LVMH Watch Division

The Escale collection then took center stage, redefining the “stopover” through a lens of sophisticated complications. We witnessed the acoustic beauty of the Escale Minute Repeater in rose gold, followed by the majestic Escale Worldtime in platinum. The latter, with its miniature-painted dial featuring 24 flags inspired by vintage trunk motifs, is a vibrant tribute to the Art of Travel. This was complemented by the Escale Worldtime Central Flying Tourbillon, where a kinetic dance at the center of a grand feu enamel dial elevates the technical feat to pure theater.

The tour continued with the Escale Twin Zone, presented in both warm rose gold and a breathtaking platinum version featuring an aventurine dial dusted with diamonds — an ethereal choice for the modern nomad. To conclude the Louis Vuitton chapter, the Escale Limited Edition “Tiger’s Eye” (limited to 30 pieces) made its debut. The natural, shimmering bands of the gemstone encased in yellow gold create a luminous union of mineral and metal.

“This new chapter for Escale is aligned with the transformation we have been going through… It represents functional watchmaking at its best. Complications that truly serve the traveler, finished to the highest standards of haute horlogerie.”

-Michel Navas, Master Watchmaker and Co-founder of La Fabrique du Temps

The journey culminated in a private area dedicated to the pinnacle of independent watchmaking. Here, the revival of Daniel Roth was showcased through the Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton. The brand’s signature double-ellipse case now reveals the intricate brilliance of the DR002SR caliber, an open-worked marvel where every internal angle is finished by hand. Finally, the artistic legacy of Gérald Genta was felt in the Geneva Time Only collection. With its distinctive “cushion” case in rose and white gold, these pieces embody ‘l’Esprit de Genève’ — a refined, unpretentious mastery that feels both sculptural and timeless. In this Milanese afternoon, Louis Vuitton did more than present watches; it reaffirmed a philosophy. Time is not merely a measurement, but a journey that deserves to be traveled with audacity, elegance, and soul.
