Precision and discipline: what connects the Tramezza and Alberto Tomba in a dialogue between craftsmanship and performance.

Ferragamo rediscovers its own history through an expert eye and a sensitivity honed over time. This is how Legends, Reimagined was born: a project that reexamines the past, questioning it in the light of the present. At the heart of the story is the Tramezza, one of the highest expressions of Italian shoemaking tradition. A complex system of values—precision, time, skill, endurance—values that, if you will, are embodied in more than 160 manual steps. A shoe that exists thanks to a slow, rigorous process and that embodies the very idea of true craftsmanship.

To bring this vision to life, Ferragamo entrusted the first chapter of the project to a figure who, though from a world far removed from fashion, shares its ethic deeply: Alberto Tomba. An unconventional skier, instinctive and charismatic, a true Italian pride, Tomba has always represented a form of nonconformist excellence. Not born among the peaks, yet able to master them, he built his own legend by combining absolute technique with natural impulse. A duality that resonates remarkably well with the Tramezza’s design philosophy. The encounter between man and object becomes a dialogue of parallel logics, perfectly aligned: the shoe as a structure that supports, guides, and accompanies; the athlete as a body that moves, reacts, and trusts. Even in the most intimate details—the act of tying a lace, balancing weight, adjusting posture—a shared language emerges, one made of control and freedom, discipline and instinct.

The Tramezza is an icon of our heritage; it represents the structural integrity and impeccable execution that defines a Ferragamo shoe. By reframing our icons through the stories of extraordinary individuals like Alberto Tomba, we celebrate a heritage that remains vibrant and deeply rooted in our relentless quest for perfection. It is a celebration of the craft itself, and of the pride one feels in owning a pair of Ferragamo shoes—the pride we see as the beginning of a new, forever legend.”

Strengthening this connection is the Made-to-Order service, which Ferragamo presents as an extension of the project. The Maison invites us to get closer to the brand, revealing the countless possibilities for product personalization—a truly bespoke experience applied to footwear: rare leathers, handcrafted techniques, and engraved initials as a mark of identity. Each pair becomes unique, designed to truly belong to the person who wears it.

The space chosen to tell this story, The Wilde, is transformed into an immersive Tramezza Atelier, a dedicated workshop where materials, light, and sound construct a sensory narrative. Everything in this carefully curated environment serves to deepen our understanding of the process, to foster direct contact with the object, and above all, to invite close observation. Here, the culture of making takes tangible form. Legends, Reimagined is therefore not a celebratory exercise in the traditional sense. It is rather a statement of intent: to affirm that excellence does not arise from merely imitating the past, but from the ability to reinterpret it through authentic stories, recognizing where mistakes were made, where true skill resides, and where a coherent vision is realized.
