In the monumental setting of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Roman Maison unveils a collection that transforms high jewelry into a narrative device. Five timeless icons become shrines of wisdom, housing unpublished texts by five extraordinary women to redefine the concept of intellectual heritage.

The value of contemporary beauty is undergoing a profound metamorphosis, shifting its center of gravity from material exhibition to density of content. In this scenario, the BVLGARI ICONS Minaudière collection stands as a programmatic manifesto, an ode to the cultural heritage of the Roman Maison that definitively dissolves the boundaries between jewelry and leather goods. Presented in a place that embodies universal memory and knowledge, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the event celebrated not only goldsmith mastery but the very idea of “carrying culture,” transforming an evening accessory into a symbol of collective wisdom. Under the creative direction of Mary Katrantzou, the collection draws on over 140 years of history to create precious objects that, while respecting the proportions of archival minaudières, explore a new territory at the intersection of two universes of high craftsmanship.

The architecture of the collection unfolds through five distinctive signs that have marked Bvlgari’s aesthetics: Monete, Serpenti, Tubogas, Divas’ Dream, and BVLGARI BVLGARI. Each piece is the result of an intense dialogue between past and present, where High Jewelry creation methodologies — such as the lost-wax technique — are translated into the world of accessories to create sculptural forms embellished with hand-applied enamels and pavé settings of gemstones like amethyst, tiger’s eye, and malachite. The Monete minaudière reproduces an ancient Roman coin on a new scale, while the metallic body of Tubogas wraps around a precious lizard “egg”; the modern spirit of BVLGARI BVLGARI is expressed through hand-applied mother-of-pearl inlays, and the iconic Serpenti sees its legendary head become the aesthetic focal point of the closure.

“The idea was to create an object that functions as an accessory but is as precious as a piece of jewelry. Transcending function, it becomes a symbol: the minaudières are created not to contain objects, but meanings.”

However, the true intellectual provocation of this collection lies in the deliberate choice of dimensions: minaudières so minute they cannot even hold a smartphone, but designed to hold what truly matters. Inside, each creation houses one of the five mini-books created exclusively for Bvlgari by the stars of the campaign shot by Ethan James Green. Writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, model Linda Evangelista, actress Kim Ji-won, actress and model Isabella Rossellini, and architect Sumayya Vally have lent their voices to write original reflections on creating culture, tradition, inner calm, and the relationship with nature. It is a provocative invitation to consider the accessory as a container for thought and lived experience, a way for today’s women to become custodians of knowledge to be passed down.

The Paris event, culminating in an intimate dinner among the library’s historic shelves and animated by the immersive performance of artist Thomas Russell with the vocals of Sarah Manesse, gathered a community of international talents — including Tina Kunakey, Alexa Chung, and Kelly Rutherford — around an idea of plurality and syncretism. In this context, the minaudière ceases to be a mere ornament to become a “shrine of wisdom“, an object that invites discovery and reflection. With this unprecedented chapter, Bvlgari does not merely celebrate its heritage but transforms it into a living and dynamic dialogue, where the beauty of gold and hard stones becomes the necessary vehicle to carry, share, and protect contemporary culture.
