MUSE TWENTY FANZINE

ORIENTAL INKS

2025.04.10

Text by Lucrezia Sgualdino

The new Armani/Casa collection celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary. The space designed for the occasion hosts a special installation that highlights the deep connection with the city of Milan.

Shapes and decorations come together in a unique and moving balance. Classic taste becomes modern and contemporary, while the pragmatism of emotional details is celebrated with absolute care in the new Armani/Casa collection. Materials are carefully selected, as are the techniques used to work them. Beauty is enhanced through a play of combinations between different textures and structures. The settings are created with large rice paper panel walls, evoking the idea of Japanese interiors, allowing the scenography to become intimate and personal. The color choices are mainly expressed through the juxtaposition of materials, fabrics, and surfaces. Creativity and art converge. Drawings and watercolours transport the minds of visitors to distant worlds, just like many of the depicted elements that, in the Asian tradition, symbolise auspicious qualities of strength and stability.

Gold runs delicately throughout the collection. The overall palette is neutral, interrupted by strong and intense shades of green and red. The decorations on furniture and fabrics are enriched by sinuous, East-inspired patterns; dragons and leaves add depth and texture to the designs. The interweaving of threads and colours allows each element to enhance its own three-dimensionality. Highlights of the new collection include the modular PLAY bookcase, the padded AMBRA chair with curved backrest and walnut wood frame, the VIVACE series featuring a lacquered round table and matching armchair, the large TROCADERO table with geometric patterns, a small two-seater sofa with an armchair named VISO, and the OPEN pouf with a side table featuring hand-stitched leather detailing.

Alongside these pure design and furnishing pieces are meticulous everyday home objects that blend practicality with research. The AMELIE box set and the VADUZ salt and pepper set in small format—also presented in the VENTO bamboo version—join the collection. Napkin holders can be paired with decorative spheres bearing the perforated ASTRO logo. In the lighting world, the AUDREY table lamp in metal with fringes makes an appearance, as does the ANTHEA series, with a table version and the first-ever hanging pendant. The ARTHUR tableware set is made of white porcelain, the ANNABEL cutlery complements glasses, bottle, and jug from the ORSINI series, and the MISTRAL baskets in teal and fabric. The table is wrapped in soft linen thread, with ARCADIA placemats, coasters, and napkins that elevate the formality and personality of a welcoming, unique, and sophisticated home—ready to host curious and convivial guests.
